PASTINI’S LEADER OF THE YEAR
Welcome Autumn with Harvest Wines
Wine lovers rejoice! Harvest season is here.
Right now, winemakers in the Pacific Northwest are getting ready for harvest season. In the months of September and October, the fruits of their labor are picked, sorted and barreled, and the fermentation process begins. In other words, this is when the magic happens!
To celebrate, we raise a glass to our local producers with two exceptional offerings from 2015, a white from Oregon and a red from Washington. In this vintage, a warm summer season was met with a cool and temperate fall. The result makes for beautifully ripened fruit with bright acidity and rich complexity.
Rock star winemaker Charles Smith of K Vintners likes to say he makes "wines of substance." That's the case with his new Substance Cabernet, with smoking good notes of black currants and hints of plum, merged in a rich, layered profile with an elegant finish. This wine was awarded 92 points from the Wine Advocate, and is a terrific match to just about any hearty Pastini pasta.
Looking for something on the lighter side? The Pines Vineyard Pinot Gris is a rich, slightly sweet and wildly fruity white. This is not your father's Pinot Gris. From grapes grown in a historic vineyard in the Columbia River Gorge, this wine is equal parts delicious and unique. The nose will remind you of longer, sunnier days, with aromas of pineapple, Meyer lemon and green apple. Drink it on its own, pair it with a salad, or it would be great with a yummy Fettuccine Alfredo.
Do yourself a favor and stop in to try these seasonal offerings before they're gone.
We'll look forward to sharing a glass with you!
